It is Open Gallery Month in Woodstock. Sophie Brown, my fictional artist character and collaborative work with Kathryn Smith – for THE QUARRY – Clare Hart book no. 4 is up at the Goodman Gallery. I just got a copy of Andrew Brown’s new book, Street Blues. It’s about his time as a police reservist. I have Patricia Cornwell’s new book too but I think Andrew’s is going to be first….

The Groot Drakenstein prison sees the launch of Fifteen Men this morning – the first event of the Franschhoek Literary Festival. The book contains pieces that emerged during a creative writing workshop I conducted, born out of the inaugural 2007 FLF and run over nine months.
All proceeds from the sale of Fifteen Men go to community projects through the FLF Library Fund. Here’s the book blurb:

Greetings all and welcome to my blog!
Jean-Jacques Rousseau once wrote that, “Provided a man is not mad, he can be cured of every folly but vanity.” Doubtless his formula was not meant to exclude women, either – and in the rage-against-the-dying-of-the-light spirit of that the quotation implies, let’s start off with an excerpt from my latest book, Fabulously 40 and Beyond, which I co-authored with Karin Schimke.
